Crosscutters win, summer soccer camps set, golf tourney readies and more.

Crosscutters win wild one versus Kent

The Olympic Crosscutters squad gave up a big lead in the seventh inning against Kent on June 1, only to come back and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

The Crosscutters, an Olympic Peninsula-based club baseball squad for high school-aged players, scored four runs in the bottom half of the seventh to knock off the visiting Kent Bulldogs Elite, 10-9.

Logan Shaw had three hits and three RBIs, Lane Dotson and Ian Quast had two hits each and James Thayer drew two walks to pace the Crosscutter attack.

Olympic broke a 2-2 tie with a three-run fifth inning and held a 6-2 lead before the Bulldogs reeled off seven runs in the seventh inning before Olympic’s big comeback.

Sequim summer soccer camps set

Sequim Junior Soccer will be partnering with UK Elite Soccer in offering players summer soccer camp opportunities. UK Elite Soccer provide summer soccer camps to challenge and motivate young players using Global Soccer Curriculum designed to improve each individual player. SkyRidge hosting anniversary tourney

SkyRidge Golf Course celebrates turning 13 with its anniversary golf tournament set for a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday, June 11, at the course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway.

Format is a two-person modified Chapman. Cost is $70 per team and includes 18 holes of golf, range balls, lunch following play, KPs and long putt contest. Optional honey pots are $30 per team. Gorr and net winners are named.

Wilder wins in shutout

James Grubb of Sequim tossed six scoreless innings to lead Wilder Baseball to an 8-0 shutout of Northwest Blaze 18U on June 4, the Peninsula Daily News reports.

Grubb pitched a gem, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out nine in the nine-inning game at Civic Field. Brady Shimko earned the save in relief for Wilder, allowing a hit and scattering three walks in three innings.

Offensively, Wilder took advantage of 13 walks, eight hits and three hit batters surrendered by the Belfair-based Blaze. Matt Hendry went 3 for 4 with a double, a walk, a run and two RBIs to lead Wilder at the plate. Curan Bradley reached base four times and scored three runs. Evan Hurn was 1 for 3 with two walks, a run and an RBI.

Wilder improved to 3-0 on the season. The team played Bellevue’s Lakeside Recovery on Sunday; results were not available at press time.
