Run the Peninsula’s Sequim race set

The 2023 Run the Peninsula racing series continues on Saturday, April 22, with the Railroad Bridge Park 5K/10K.

The race starts at 9:30 a.m. with the out-and-back course starting and finishing at the historic Railroad Bridge over the Dungeness River.

Cost is $40 per person ($35 for virtual racers). Register at runsignup.com/Race/WA/Carlsborg/RailroadBridge5K10K.

Race bib pickup is 4:30-6 p.m. Friday, April 21, at Barhop Artisan Pizza Sequim, 845 W. Washington St., or 7:30-9:15 a.m. on the day of the race.

There will be parking at the start of the race.

Other race series events include the North Olympic Discovery Marathon races on June 3-4 in Port Angeles, the Larry Scott Trail races on Oct. 14 in Port Townsend, and the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe races on Dec. 3 in Blyn.

Local takes Tour De Dungeness title

Forest Hietpas of Sequim won the Senior Cat 3 age division at the 2023 Tour De Dungeness bicycle races, held March 11 in Sequim.

Hitepas, of the A Cycling Team, completed the course in 2:19:59, ahead of Gene Johnson Cycling Team’s Ciara O’Rourke (2:20:15).

Other men’s division winners included: Robert Duffy, Men’s Master 35+ Cat 1/2/3, 2:13:58; Randy Mannion, Men’s Master 40+ Cat 4/5, 2:00:53; Eliot Crowther, Men’s Senior Cat 1/2, 2:36:06; Nolan Adams, Men’s Senior Cat 4, 1:51:36; and, Gerald Costa, Men’s Senior Cat 5, 1:29:27.

Women’s division winners included: Alia Shafi, Women’s Senior Cat 1/2/3, 2:23:35; and, Amy Henderson, Women’s Senior Cat 4/5, 1:34:38.
