Peninsula anglers group to meet

The Puget Sound Anglers-North Olympic Peninsula Chapter hosts a general meeting on Wednesday, May 18, at the Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road. People start gathering at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. The featured speaker is charter captain and club member John Beath; his presentation is “Secrets of the Pros, Summer Salmon Fishing Port Angeles.”

The group will also have a short business meeting and raffle drawings following his talk (raffles for members only). Annual membership is $25 and includes The Reel News monthly.

Golf tourney to raise funds for PC sports

The annual Pirate Golf Tournament is set for Saturday, June 4, at The Cedars at Dungeness in Sequim, where golfers will have the opportunity to raise money for Peninsula College athletic scholarships — and possibly win a car.

The tournament, a four-person scramble, will feature a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Hole-in-one prizes this year include a car from Wilder Auto and $10,000 in cash.

“There are fund raising tournaments almost every weekend in the spring,” said Rick Ross, associate dean for athletics and student life at the college. “But this is part of our lifeblood. We truly hope people will come out and continue to support it. Coach Rollman and the staff at Cedars work very hard to make it a good time for all.”

Participants can register for the basic package at $100 or the player package that includes two mulligans, and tickets for “putt for wine” and a drawing for $125. Lunch is also provided. To register, participants can go to e.givesmart.com/events/r4i.

Sponsorships are still available. For more information, please contact tournament director Donald Rollman at drollman@pencol.edu.
