Quinet gets rare double-eagle

Shane Quinet sank a hole-in-one on a par 4 — a double Eagle — at Peninsula Golf Club in Port Angeles on May 15.

Quinet, a Sequim High School graduate, aced the 16th hole at Peninsula during a Wilder Baseball fundraiser tournament.

Club soccer team gets win

The Northern Peninsula Football Club (NPFC) played its first-ever game in the Western Washington Premier League 2 last week, coming away with a 4-2 win over the Issaquah-based ISC Gunners in Port Townsend on May 16.

The NPFC was set to be formed last year, but those plans had to be put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The club is is made up of players from Sequim, Port Townsend, Port Angeles and Forks, said club manager Joost Besjin of Port Townsend.

Scoring goals for NPFC against ISC Gunners were Ryan Tolberd and Pablo Salazar of Sequim, and Silas Dewyce and Roland Donenberg-Platt of Port Townsend.

The next NPFC game is at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, against Gala FC, a club from Snohomish County, at Port Townsend’s Memorial Stadium. Get tickets ($5) at northernpeninsulafc.com.

Lawson sinks an ace

Sunland Golf Club member Brent Lawson sank his first hole-in-one on May 11 at Sunland.

Lawson used a 7 wood to drive 150 yards at Sunland’s fifth hole.

Hunstiger gets first hole-in-one

Thomas Hunstiger of Everett sank his first hole-in-one at The Cedars at Dungeness on May 16.

Hunstger used a 9-iron to drive the 138-yard 11th hole at The Cedars.

Rodney Turner of Port Orchard and Chris Wynne of Shoreline witnessed the feat.
