Millimans rack up Senior Games medals

Sequim track and field standouts Chuck and Philip Milliman earned some serious hardware at the 2022 National Senior Games in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., May 10-23.

In the 90-94 age group, Chuck earned a gold in the pole vault (1.4 meters) and 800 meters (6:26.93). He earned a silver in the high jump (0.9 meters), a bronze in the 50 meters (11.55 seconds) and a fourth place finish in the long jump (1.97 meters).

In the 70-74 age group, Philip earned a gold in the pole vault (3.13 meters) and another in the high jump (1.4).

Washington placed 16th among the states’ medal count with 44 — 19 of those medals gold. Florida led the medal count with 424, followed by Texas (153), Ohio (134), Tennessee (115) and Maryland (111).

NODM seeking volunteers

The Port Angeles Marathon Association and Peninsula Trails Coalition are looking for at least 12 more volunteers for the North Olympic Discovery Marathon on Sunday, June 5.

The PTC has managed the start line every year at 7 Cedars Resort in Blyn. Twenty-six volunteers are needed and so far the PTC has 14 commitments.

Time is from 5:30-8 a.m. Volunteers get a T-shirt. Anyone who is interested should call Jeff Bohman at 360-477-8881.

PAMA is also looking for additional volunteers before the event and the day of the event.

Course marshal volunteer positions include:

• Olympic Discovery Trail in Sequim Bay State Park, 7:35-8:10 a.m.

• North Blake Avenue and East Fir, 7:55 a.m.-9 a.m.

• Hendrickson Road and North Fifth Avenue help officer, 8-9:15 a.m.

• East Runnion Road and Sawmill Road, 8:20-9:55 a.m.

• Olympic Discovery Trail and Heath Road (two people needed), 8:20-9:55 a.m.

• Olympic Discovery Trail and Carlsborg Road help sheriff, 8:25-10:05 a.m.

• Olympic Discovery Trail and Kitchen-Dick Road help sheriff, 8:30-10:25 a.m.

• Barr Road, heading south and Olympic Discovery Trail help sheriff, 8:25-9:40 a.m.

• Buchanan Drive and race turnaround, 9 a.m.-12:35 p.m.
