Recreational fishing closure ends in ONP

An emergency closure of recreational fishing in many rivers and streams at Olympic National Park ended Nov. 1.

The Queets and Salmon rivers, however, will remain closed to recreational fishing until further notice, park officials said.

Recreational fishing within the park reopened in the Ozette, Bogachiel, Dickey, Quillayute, Hoh, South Fork Hoh and Quinault rivers, as well as the Cedar, Goodman, Kalaloch and Mosquito creeks.

On Oct. 6, the rivers and creeks listed above were closed to recreational fishing to protect several fish populations during ongoing severe low water flow conditions. Learn more about this temporary closure at nps.gov/olym/index.htm.

Recent rainy weather has restored water levels in rivers and creeks, allowing salmon and other fish greater access to spawning areas.
