Anglers to stock Sequim pond

For the second year, Puget Sound Anglers-North Olympic Peninsula Chapter and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will plant 450 rainbow trout in the pond north of Carrie Blake Community Park, near the City of Sequim’s water reclamation facility, for fall fishing opportunities for area youth.

“This was very popular last winter so we have decided to make it an annual event,” anglers group representatives said last week.

The plants are scheduled to occur around Nov. 5, Nov. 25 and Dec. 19. These fish were held over from the group’s Kids Fishing Day in April and are about 3 pounds each.

Youths aged 14 and younger can fish the the pond and keep the first two fish they catch per day; no license is required. The pond is open dawn to dusk except Mondays and Wednesdays, and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Fridays when the pond is being used by another community group.
