Sports: Equestrians earn top-10 finishes

Sequim’s equestrians are in solid mid-season form following their second District 4 meet.

The Sequim Equestrians Team earned 24 top-10 finishes — including a dozen in the top five — at the district meet held Feb. 24-26 in Tacoma.

Sequim’s Drill Team Freestyle Fours team of Emelie Fürste, Miranda Williams, Sydney Balkan and Amy Tucker took home second place for the second time in as many meets top open the season. Grace Niemeyer took second in Jumping and then teamed up with Sydney Balkan to place second in Working Pairs.

Balkan and Amy Tucker teamed up to take third in Team Cattle Sorting.

The third and final regular district meet is set for March 24-26 in Tacoma.

The state meet is scheduled for May 11-14 at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses Lake.
