Soccer
Fighting for a playoff spot, Sequim (5-6, 5-6) dropped a 2-1 decision to the Bulldogs on April 22, a game in which the Wolves couldn’t get untracked all night long against a North Mason team that came in with just one victory on the season.
“Absolute deserved defeat,” coach Dave Breckenridge said. “We did not play soccer last night.”
Sequim scored its lone goal on a penalty kick by Colten Anderson.
“Colten took it and got his first goal of the season as a freshman,” Breckenridge said.
“Unfortunately, it was the only positive in the match. I feel our biggest defeat is ourselves.”
On Friday, the Wolves lost to Bainbridge (10-0, 12-0) at home 4-0.
“We had a couple of opportunities that didn’t quite work out, but none of that mattered. We had a game plan and they executed it perfectly,” Breckenridge said. “The boys found themselves, trusted each other, kept the energy as high as possible and had fun playing. What else could you ask for as a coach? A team that has that much fun losing a match says it all. If they continue with this mindset they will have a great rest of the season.”
Bainbridge is ranked second in the state in the Ratings Percentage Index.
Sequim next plays at Olympic (3-7, 3-8) on Tuesday, looking to get back to .500 and to stay in fourth place in the league. They host Port Angeles May 2.
