Ready for Valley of the Trolls, the sequel?
The four-race event held once again at the Troll Haven Bandy Farms near Sequim is back this year after a strong showing in its inaugural kick-off in 2015.
Troll Haven is, as race organizers describe, “a magical, mystical sanctuary that has been created for families, friends and especially for children.” The privately owned estate occupies 150 acres along Discovery Bay in Gardiner, between Sequim and Port Townsend.
The Friends of Jefferson County Parks and Recreation are hosting USAT&F Certified half-marathon and 10-kilometer races, plus a 5-kilometer and a Kid’s Sprint for Health races.
This year’s half marathon features a pacer group, says Jane Storm.
Start time this year is a bit earlier, with the starter’s gun set for 8 a.m. for the half marathon, 8:15 a.m. for the 10K and 8:30 a.m. for the 5K.
Prior to Aug. 1, cost for adults (18 and older) is $55 for the half marathon, $40 for the 10K and $30 for the 5K. Costs go up by $5 for each race Aug. 2 to race day. Those 18 and younger are $5 less.
T-shirts are including in entry, though shirts are guaranteed on race day if signed up on or before Aug. 1; those registering after Aug. 1 receive shirts either race day or by mail.
Packet pickup is Friday, Aug. 19, from 5-8 p.m., or on race morning starting at 6 a.m.
Commemorative awards are presented to the overall male & female in the half-marathon, as well as age groups: 12 & Younger, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80-plus.
