Sequim sent off its four graduating seniors with a 3-1 win over North Mason on Oct. 26, improving to 9-5 in Olympic League play and 10-5 overall in the regular season finale.
Kendall Hastings had 15 kills, 13 assists, eight digs and four blocks to lead the Wolves. Jolene Vaara had 15 kills, two blocks and seven assists, while Allie Gale added 16 assists and three aces, and Malory Morey was 13-of-14 serving — including a seven-point run in the first game. Jordan Hegvedt had a team-high 29 digs.
Sequim topped the Bullogs 25-12 and 25-16 in sets one and two before dropping the third set 25-22, missing five serves and dropping two balls. The Wolves rebounded for a 25-14 win in the fourth set, getting a six-point serving run from Jordan Kidd.
League seeding tourney, late
Sequim was slated to host Kingston in an league seeding game on Nov. 2; results were too late for press time. The teams split their season series, with the Wolves topping Kingston 3-1 on Sept. 28 and Kingston beating Sequim 3-1 on Oct. 21.
The winning team moves on to play the winner of the North Kitsap/Olympic match-up on Thursday, Nov. 4, for the league’s No. 1 and 2 seeds to districts, while losing squads play on Nov. 4 for the No. 3 and 4 seeds to districts.
North Kitsap is ranked No. 10 in the state based on RPI rankings, Sequim No. 21 and Kingston No. 35.
The West Central District tourney is set for Nov. 10 and Nov. 13 at Washington and Sammamish high schools, with the top six teams from the 16-team tourney advancing to state.
The state 2A tournament is held Nov. 19-20 in Yakima.
