Wolves’ boys edge host Redhawks

Sequim’s boys picked up a win while the SHS girls and Port Townsend finished with identical scores in a multi-dual cross country meet in Port Townsend on Feb. 27.

Sequim freshman Colby Ellefson and senior teammate Eli Gish finished 2-3 behind Redhawk junior Max Allworth-Miles as the Wolves’ boys tallied 24 team points to Port Townsend’s 31 (low score wins).

Ellefson completed the 5,000-meter course in 17:46, with Gish clocking in at 18:19.

Sequim teammates Henry Hughes (10:10) and Jaxon Cogburn (21:53) finished fifth and sixth, and fellow SHS junior Zack Gufler was eight (23:11).

On the girls’ side, SHS junior Riley Pyeatt cruised to a win by nearly two minutes on the Port Townsend Golf Club course, finishing in 20:06. Port Townsend sophomore Camryn Hines (21:59) was second and PT freshman Aliyah Yearian (22:01) was third. Sequim senior Jessica German came in fourth (23:03) and sophomore Macy Cogburn was fifth (23:27).

The teams each tallied 28 team points.

Sequim’s Wolves host their lone home meet on Saturday, March 6, at Voice of America Park near the Dungeness Recreation Area.

Sequim takes on Klahowya, with the boys competing at 12:30 p.m. and girls at 1:30 p.m.
