Wolves fall in close loss to close season

Sequim went toe-to-toe with Bremerton and held a lead for much of the first half of the Oct. 28 league match-up before falling to the playoff-bound Knights, 36-29.

“We played super well,” SHS coach Erik Wiker said.

Lars Wiker threw three first half touchdowns, each to Sam Fitzgerald, and amassed 236 yards through the air, while Aiden Gockerell led the Wolves with 120 yards rushing.

Wiker also had 47 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Aidan Holland led Sequim with 11 tackles, while Gockerell had 10 tackles. Faas Christiansen had eight tackles and Fitzgerald had seven.

The Wolves finish the season 2-5 in league play and 2-7 overall.

Bremerton, the league’s seventh seed, moves on to play seventh-seeded Fife next week, with the winner moving on to the state 2A tourney.

North Kitsap (7-0, 8-1) earned the top Olympic League seed, followed by Olympic and Bremerton.
