Sound Bancorp backs Serenity’s homelessness services

Sound Community Bank invested a $2,500 donation in Serenity House of Clallam County’s mission to prevent and end homelessness in Clallam County.

“We sincerely believe that ‘community’ isn’t just our middle name,” said bank president and CEO Laurie Stewart.

“Our holistic approach to sustainability includes sustaining our communities, employees, stakeholders and financial performance. Through our partnership with Serenity House of Clallam County, we’re able to effectively make a difference in the lives of homeless individuals and families.”

Delivering the donation on April 11 were, from left, Sound Community Bank vice presidents Julie Hatch, business development officer; Michele Sorrentino, Sequim branch manager; and Laurie Szczepczynski, Port Angeles branch manager.

Receiving the award were Serenity House board president Scott Schaefer, Executive Director Doc Robinson, board members Gina Witz, Lisa DelGuzzi, Jacki Marquardt, Patrice Varela-Daylo and Mike McEvoy, and business manager Kathy Allen.

Serenity House, a private nonprofit founded in 1982, provides 90 percent of homeless housing assistance in Clallam County, including operating the intake network of Housing Resource Centers in Port Angeles, Sequim and Forks, and emergency shelters for families and adults.

“Sound Community is an exceptional partner as Serenity House works for sustainability for the agency and our clients,” Robinson said.
