Elwha police are searching for a suspect believed to be armed and dangerous after a burglary was discovered at the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribal Center Headquarters the morning of Jan. 4.

Elwha police report the suspect took a General Service Administration vehicle and electronics. Six offices were broken into and ransacked.

The suspected burglar was discovered when early morning staff arrived.

While various items were stolen, Elwha police report, the highest-priced items included electronics and a vehicle that was leased by the federal government to Tribal Council. The vehicle is a white four-door Ford Focus, license plate G134606L.

The vehicle was taken at 6:48 a.m.

“Our law enforcement is working diligently to catch the suspect,” tribal chairwoman Frances Charles said. “If anyone has any information, please contact the authorities. The Lower Elwha Tribal community is grateful for any assistance provided to help us bring this individual into custody.”

Sgt. George Black Crow of the Elwha Police Department said federal authorities were notified. The suspect is potentially facing federal charges as well as tribal charges.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous, and is currently facing potential burglary, trespassing, theft, and assault charges.

If you see the suspect or the vehicle contact the authorities at 9-1-1. Law enforcement officials advise to not try to engage the suspect.
