Hardy’s hosts holiday meal

This holiday season Hardy’s Market, 10200 Old Olympic Highway, Sequim, is inviting the community to enjoy a free traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Dine in or take out one per person from 11 a.m. while supplies last Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24. No early birds please.

Get Medicare Part D help

SHIBA volunteers will be available from 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Nov. 29, to help with Medicare Part D Open Enrollment at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., Sequim. Enrollment ends Dec. 6.

Be a ‘smart driver’

An AARP “Smart Driver” Course will be offered at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday-Friday, Dec. 1-2. Taking this course could help you reduce your overall maintenance and car insurance costs.

Participants will refresh their driving skills and learn the new rules of the road and learn research-based driving strategies to help them stay safe behind the wheel. Cost for the course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members.

Kiwanis hosts pub crawl

Kiwanis Club of Port Angeles will be holding an Ugly Christmas Sweater Pub Crawl &Poker Walk from 6-11 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, in downtown Port Angeles.

The event will be held in conjunction with the annual Port Angeles Downtown Association’s Shop ’Til You Drop event.

Tickets are $10 in advance and are available online at kiwanis pubcrawl.brownpapertickets.com or at The Crabhouse, 221 N. Lincoln St., for $15. Participants will check in at The Crabhouse at 6 p.m. Proceeds support Kiwanis projects.

‘Pie lady’ at Nash’s

Pie maker Kate McDermott returns to Nash’s Farm Store, 4681 Sequim-Dungeness Way in Dungeness, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26.

She will share the art of making hand pies for your holiday dining pleasure. McDermott has just published a new cookbook, “The Art of the Pie: A Practical Guide to Homemade Crusts, Fillings and Life.” Copies to purchase will be available. The event is free and open to the public.

Students encouraged to enter contest

Washington students in grades 6-12 have until Nov. 30 to take part in a contest sponsored by the Legacy Washington program which asks students to share who they are and who they hope to become.

Contestants can submit entries in different formats, including writings, film projects or two-dimensional art.

Learn about Towne Road plans at open house

Come learn about floodplain restoration in the lower Dungeness River at an open house from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Dungeness Schoolhouse, 2781 Towne Road, Sequim. See the new alignment of Towne Road in the restoration area and offer ideas for trails that may be built once restoration is complete.

Bodhi Tree Yoga clinic benefits food bank

Bodhi Tree Yoga and Village Heartbeat will have a Thanksgiving Day benefit for the Sequim Food Bank from 9-10:30 a.m. at 271 Blakely Blvd., Sequim. The session includes gratitude yoga with natural rhythms of drumming and percussion. All monetary donations go to the food bank. Bring your mat and towel.

Senior Nutrition menu set

Sequim Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4:30 p.m. at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St. on Tuesdays-Fridays. Suggested donation is $5 (60 and over), $8 guest and a 24-hour advance reservation is needed.
