Prep for blackmouth season

John Beath, an author, club member, fishing guide and tackle manufacturer, is the guest speaker at the Puget Sound Anglers-North Olympic Peninsula Chapter meeting set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.

Beath will be getting local anglers prepared for the blackmouth season that opens in Marine Area 6 on Feb. 1. He will cover charts of the local area and how to best fish the areas such as best tides, depth, speed and lure combinations.

The evening begins with a viewing the raffle prizes and fish stories. The featured speaker presentation starts at 7 p.m. followed by a business meeting that includes a financial report, government relations report, upcoming events discussions and fishing reports from members.

Also on tap are refreshments, a raffle for fishing gear and a membership drawing (must be present to win). The public is welcome.
