Carlsborg sewer closer to reality

The Carlsborg sewer project inched closer to starting Monday, March 15, after Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners resolved to form a local district for the project.
PUD spokesman Jeff Beaman said since the commissioners acted without being prompted by a petition, they and the public will have more flexibility in the creation process.
Specific dates will be set later for several decisions where commissioners and citizens can decide whether to go further, he said.
The system’s preliminary route runs north along Mill Road and then east along Idea Place to the Clallam PUD Service Center.
Estimated construction cost is almost $15 million with a projected $5 million coming from state and federal grants and the remainder from an estimated 120 parcels, possibly over a 20-year period.
