Tax-aide assistance available

TAX-AIDE ASSISTANCE
CLALLAM COUNTY
Beginning February 1, 2010

Six TAX-AIDE sites in Clallam and Jefferson Counties are scheduled to open February 1, 2010.  Fully trained and certified TAX-AIDE volunteers will be available to assist senior and low- and moderate-income taxpayers with preparation of their 2009 tax returns.  All assistance and electronic filing is totally FREE to the taxpayer.

TAX-AIDE trained volunteers will provide free personal tax preparation assistance and free electronic filing for senior and low to moderate-income taxpayers.  The TAX-AIDE assistance program is sponsored by AARP and the IRS.

Taxpayers should bring the following with them to the TAX-AIDE site.
W-2s, 1099s and documents necessary for 2009 return
    Copy of previous year’s return
    Evidence of real estate taxes paid in 2009
    If new vehicle purchased 2009, evidence of vehicle price & sales taxes paid
    Evidence of energy efficient improvements to an existing home
    If first-time homebuyer in 2009, evidence of purchase (closing statement)
    Photo ID and social security card for themselves and dependents
