Big flea market to support Basques’ visit

Published 9:45 am Thursday, March 20, 2014

The fourth annual Multi-Church Flea Market Fundraiser will be held at the Sequim High School cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 19.

The flea market raises money to support the Sequim/Port Angeles Basque Student Exchange Program in association with Summer in the USA, offering Basque teens from Northern Spain an opportunity to visit the U.S. for the month of July in Sequim and Port Angeles.

The Basque teens, ages 15-18, practice their English for school and life, attend an American camp for one week with other Basque and American teens and have lots of wonderful experiences while living with local families and building strong relationships and community ties.

All of the donations given to the program from the Multi-Church Flea Market vendors go directly to cover the costs of transportation and activities and events that support the program. Local host families and other community members will be selling hundreds of large and small items as vendors to benefit this event and your participation is needed and wanted.
