Border Patrol places hold on Sequim man

A 26-year-old Sequim resident is charged with threatening to kill his girlfriend after a May 22 altercation.

Rami Ahmed Al Iessa is accused of throwing a shoe at his girlfriend before arming himself with a pistol and threatening to kill her while her 11-year-old daughter was in another room.

Al Iessa became angry when his girlfriend called her grandmother, police said.

The girlfriend said Al Iessa told her, “If this was Iraq, I would shoot her in the face and she would be dead.”

Al Iessa is charged with one count of harassment/threats to kill, a Class C felony. He pleaded not guilty at a May 31 arraignment.

Trial is set for July 16.

He remains in custody at the Clallam County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.

He also is held on a Border Patrol detainer.
