Burning down the House

Fire District 2 and the City of Port Angeles Fire Department assisted the home’s owners by removing the 1920s vintage residence that was no longer habitable on June 3, but not before they used the structure for live fire training. The specialized interior fire attack training, led by Lt. Trevor Warren and Lt. Kevin Denton, included more than 20 volunteer and career firefighters. The firefighters operated in four-person teams in the multiple rounds of exercises designed to save lives through proper application of hose streams, ventilation of toxic gases and smoke, as well as search and rescue, Chief Sam Phillips said.
