This year’s tribal Canoe Journey, "Paddle to Quinault 2013," is well on its way to the Quinault Indian Nation lands along the Pacific Coast.
After a one-day stop in Port Townsend, about 30 canoes traveled Monday, July 22, to Jamestown Beach off Jamestown Road just north of Sequim.
Dinner and tribal dance performances followed at the Sequim High School cafeteria.
The Lower Elwha Klallam tribe was scheduled to welcome canoes Tuesday for a two-day visit in Port Angeles.
According to the Paddle to Quinault website, "The Canoe Journey creates opportunities for tribal members to re-learn, strengthen and reinforce their canoe traditions."
