Pioneer Dinner tickets on sale

Since 1960, the Sequim Pioneer Association has selected a qualified person or persons to be honored as a Grand Pioneer at the Pioneer Dinner. In 1978, the selection included Honorary Pioneers. In 2002, the Sequim Pioneer Association decided to provide a scholarship to a Sequim School District graduating senior. The recipient is chosen by the association based on being a Sequim pioneer family descendant, as well as other qualifying criteria.

This year the Sequim Pioneer Association again will provide two $1,000 scholarships, made possible by local merchants and participants in the Pioneer Dinner’s raffles and auctions.

Those who attend the Pioneer Dinner must be descendants of a pioneer family or have lived in the Sequim School District for 40 years or more. Spouses may attend with their qualified pioneer descendants.

The event is Friday, May 11, with a social hour at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. at the Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road, Sequim.

Tickets are available at $16 each. Call Hazel Ault at 808-8641 or stop by 219 W. Washington St. for tickets.
