The conviction of Joel Alexander Wilson for 13 counts of child rape in the first degree was affirmed April 2 by the Washington Court of Appeals. Wilson, 44, of Port Angeles, was convicted by a Clallam County jury in 2011 of 13 separate instances of sexual intercourse with his girlfriend’s grade school age daughter. The abuse started when the girl was 7 and continued until she was 11. She later disclosed the sexual abuse to her father’s girlfriend, according to court records.
Wilson was sentenced to 300 months in prison. The length of the sentence also was affirmed.
"We aggressively prosecute sex offenses, particularly when the victims are young children,"said Prosecutor Deb Kelly, crediting the bravery of the young girl in testifying and the work done by Detective Jason Viada and trial prosecutor Ann Lundwall.
