Speaking Judiciously

Debate moderator Vickie Rudin greets the four candidates for Clallam County Superior Court during the League of Women Voters’ “Candidates Debate” Sunday, June 24. The four include Christopher Melly, Curtis G. Johnson, Erik Rohrer and William Payne. More than 150 citizens attended the debate at the Sequim Prairie Grange. The day also featured a debate of three Republican candidates who hope to replace Congressman Norm Dicks, who declined to run again. Ike Eichner, Doug Cloud and Jesse Young each outlined strategies for improving the economy in District 6. The League of Women Voters host a second debate from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at the Clallam County Commissioners Meeting Room in the County Courthouse. That debate features candidates for the Clallam County Commission District 2 seat now held by Mike Chapman. Ted Simpson and Cindy Kelly, candidates for the PUD District 1, Commissioner District 3 seat, also will face off in a debate.
