Time to play ball.

With bright colored uniforms, eager smiles and the hopes of a new season upon them, dozens of Sequim youths representing about 20 teams took to the fields at James Standard Park Saturday, April 15, for the opening of the 2017 Sequim Little League season.

While the league celebrated a busy offseason — including changes to fields, concessions and the board of directors — the attention Saturday went to boys and girls gearing up for T-ball, baseball and softball games this spring. The league has games set for several fields at James Standard Park, Carrie Blake Park and Sequim High School.

League officials and parents honored Dan Perry, a longtime advocate of Sequim youth sports who died in early March. Former Sequim High prep star Chad Wagner paid tribute to his former coach, while Perry’s daughter Naomi and two children tossed the ceremonial first pitch of the season.
