Long-time member to lead anglers meeting
The next meeting of Puget Sound Anglers-North Olympic Peninsula Chapter is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., and features long-time club member Russ Mellon with a presentation called “Fishing the Strait 101.”
Mellon started fishing the Strait of Juan de Fuca in 1968 and has learned many tricks on being successful fishing the area. He will cover visualizing the Strait as a river and fishing it with that in mind, weather and water conditions to watch for, predicting when the bite will occur — especially for Chinook and salmon — what direction to fish, where to fish and techniques for fishing with bait, mooching and jigging.
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. for viewing the raffle prizes and fish stories. The presentation starts at 7 p.m., followed by a business meeting which includes a financial report, government relations report, upcoming events discussions and fishing reports from members. Also on tap are refreshments, a raffle for fishing gear and a membership drawing.
The public is welcome.
The club meets the third Thursday of each month at Trinity United Methodist Church. See www.psanopc.org and www.facebook.com/psanopc for more information.
