Rock, gem show activities on tap at Sequim Library
As part of the North Olympic Library System’s 2018 Summer Reading Program, library staff and Sequim Rocks of the Clallam County Gem & Mineral Association host fun, educational activities from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, July 14, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.
The rock show continues at the Port Angeles Library the same day, from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Dance session set
Zorina Wolf’s African-based dance class is set for 6:30-7:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, and Thursday, July 19, at Village Heartbeat Studio, 353 Chickadee Lane, Sequim. Cost is by donation.

OMF starts with Bach’s ‘Goldberg Variations’
The Olympic Music Festival, a summer season of concerts in partnership with Centrum at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend, kicks off the season with Bach’s “Goldberg Variations” set for July 14-15 at Fort Worden’s Chapel. The concert features Steven Copes (violin), Dimitri Murrath (viola) and Jennifer Culp (cello).
Most chamber music performances take place at the Wheeler Theater Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m., with dates in July, August and September. Highlights include the Olympic Chamber Music Fellowship and the annual children’s concert. Talking ‘Hold Still’
The Second Saturday Book Discussion Group meets at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 14, to discuss Sally Mann’s “Hold Still: A Memoir with Photographs,” at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. To participate, simply read the book and attend the discussion; no reservations are needed, and drop-ins are welcome.
Copies of “Hold Still” are available in various formats including regular print, large print, audiobook on CD and downloadable eBook, which may be requested online by visiting the library catalog at www.nols.org. A limited number of copies of each book discussion selection are available at the library the month prior to each meeting. ‘As You Like It’ in Port Angeles
This year’s Shakespeare in the Woods theater production of “As You Like It” will take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, July 20-Aug. 5, at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center in Webster’s Woods’ Art Park, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.
There will be a pre-show at 6 p.m. for each production, followed by the production itself at 6:30 p.m.
The plays are free; donations are accepted. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, low lawn chairs and a picnic. No pets are allowed (service animals okay). No glass containers or outside alcohol are permitted.

Fourth Friday readings slated for July 27 at The Lodge
Sponsored by Writers on the Spit, Fourth Friday readings are set for a 6:15 p.m. start Friday, July 27, in the media room at The Lodge, 660 Evergreen Farm Way, Sequim. The evening of 5-minute open mic readings are open to poems, short-short stories or memoir/novel snippets. Participants are encouraged tor rehearse in advance, as readings are timed.
