Organizers for the Sequim Irrigation Festival selected Julia Reandeau’s art for the festival’s annual button contest where she won multiple prizes including a limo ride. This year, 11-year-old Julia Reandeau can enjoy rides at the annual carnival thanks to the Sequim Irrigation Festival.

The Helen Haller Elementary fifth-grader in Eric Danielson’s class won the festival’s button design contest over 212 other designs from students in grades 1-5 at Haller, Greywolf Elementary, Olympic Peninsula Academy, Five Acre School and various homeschool programs.

As is tradition, she enjoyed a limo ride provided by 7 Cedars Casino and lunch at The Oak Table Cafe courtesy of Liz Parks, owner/broker of RE/MAX Prime. She invited three friends, Cayden Corbin, 10, Kenzie Worley, 10, and Andrew Keeler, 11, for the experience.

Along with the ride and lunch, she received several festival incentives, like a free bracelet to the carnival and her own car to ride in the May 11 Grand Parade. This will be her first time in the parade and she’s excited and has a good feeling “my parents are going to yell and embarrass me as I go by.”

Julia said she didn’t think she’d win but her majestic scene of the sun peeking over the Olympic Mountains onto the city’s grain elevator landmark and one of the area’s many barns along with the Yellow Brick Road won judges over.
