NOLS offers “Stay Home Stay Safe” resources

The Olympic Peninsula’s libraries aren’t opening any time soon, but the library system is looking to help locals with online resources.
The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) recently launched a special webpage for use during the COVID-19 Stay Home, Stay Safe era, at www.nols.org/stay-home-stay-safe.
The webpage highlights online resources that focus on learning from home, arts & entertainment, self-care, digital books and media and COVID-19 news.
Additionally, NOLS provides resources in Spanish, Mam, Q’anjob’al (K’anjob’al) and Mixteco.
The Stay, Home Stay Safe resources are intended to offer opportunities to stay informed, learn, create and connect while maintaining the community’s health.
Library customer service is available by phone Monday-Saturday from 1-5 p.m.; to access the service, call a local branch and dial option No. 2.
For one-on-one help with downloadable eBooks or other NOLS digital services, set up a free appointment with library staff by visiting www.nols.org or calling during customer service hours. Appointments can take place by phone or Zoom video conference.
Public WiFi through the library system is available 24/7 outside of all branches during the closure, which includes most areas of the parking lots. Note: WiFi users are requested not to block fire lanes.
Gov. Jay Inslee has currently identified libraries to re-open as part of Phase 3 for re-opening the economy. Because libraries are high-contact, interactive, busy public places, NOLS staffers are developing a comprehensive, phased plan for gradually reinstating library services.
