This year’s Picnic in the Park will be a unique one for the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Local business and community leaders on Aug. 24 will help celebrate the chamber’s first group award for its annual Citizen of the Year honor, as they honor essential workers for their efforts to keep Sequim residents healthy and safe during the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020.
The chamber’s picnic is set for 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Pioneer Memorial Park, 387 E. Washington St.
Chamber leaders have invited community leaders, elected officials and other critical organizations who have contributed to the cumulative response to COVID-19.
“While we are not out of the woods yet – we want to take the opportunity to express our deep gratitude to folks who have put service above self and leaned in to tackle this global pandemic on the local level,”chamber representatives said last week.
Seating will be socially distanced and masks will be required, they said. The event will be filmed but not livestreamed.
Cost to attend is $27 with lunch or $5 to attend without lunch.
All registrations must be made by noon on Thursday, Aug. 19, via the chamber’s online platform.
