Location change for SDA group
Because of new masking requirements, the North Peninsula chapter of the Surface Design Association will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Sequim’s Carrie Blake Community Park near the pickleball courts, instead of at A Stitch in Time Quilt Shoppe as previously announced.
Fully vaccinated guests are welcome at no charge. Bring a lawn chair.

Black Diamond Junction sets Labor Day concert
Popular Olympic Peninsula rock group Black Diamond Junction returns with its annual free Labor Day concert, set for 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 6, in the field at John Wayne’s Rustic Waterfront Resort, 2634 W. Sequim Bay Road.
Black Diamond Junction has been voted “Best Live Performance Group” in Clallam County 2016-2020 by Peninsula Daily News readers. The band performs classic hits from the 1960s-2000.
The free Labor Day weekend concert has become a tradition as the band partners with the resort each year to celebrate the end of the summer season and say “thank you” to locals and visitors alike. The concert returns after being canceled last year because of COVID-19 restrictions.
Refreshments will be available for sale at the event.
NOLS offer ‘CreativiTea: Tiny Tapestry’
The North Olympic Library System invites adults to grab a cup of tea or other favorite beverage and join friends for a virtual crafting get together. “CreativiTea: Tiny Tapestry” is set for 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, on Zoom. Register at nols.org, or by calling an NOLS branch to receive a Zoom link and to reserve a supply kit for pickup.
Sip along and create a mini tapestry on a handmade cardboard loom. NOLS Librarian Cheryl will guide participants through the process. In addition, learn about the local history of Coast Salish weaving during a presentation by Bonnie Roos, librarian at Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Library.
Kits including a bag of tea to enjoy while participants create and supplies needed to complete the project,; all users need is a pair of scissors. They will receive an email when a kit is ready for pick-up.

Artist recreates classics for auction, show
Dungeness artist Carrie Rodlend plans to auction her recreations of more than 30 classic paintings at her home studio, 562 Holgerson Road, on Saturday, Sept. 11. Rodlend said she’s worked side-by-side with her art students to study and reimagine works by Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne, and many more. Doors open at 10 a.m. with the auction starting at noon.
