In “A Very Typical Family,” Natalie Walker is the reason her older brother and sister went to prison more than 15 years ago. She fled California shortly after that fateful night and hasn’t spoken to anyone in her family since. Now, Natalie receives a letter from a lawyer saying her estranged mother has died and left the family’s historic Santa Cruz house to her. The only way for Natalie and her siblings to inherit is for all three adult children to come back and claim it — together.
Big Library Read is an international reading program that connects millions of readers around the world with an eBook through public libraries.
“A Very Typical Family” is the 31st selection of this program, which began in 2013 and takes place three times per year.

Call for Gala Garden Show art
Soroptimist International of Sequim, celebrating more than 75 years of service to Sequim, is currently seeking artists and photographers who wish to have an original creation selected as the featured artwork for the 25th-annual Gala Garden Show, taking place March 16-17, 2024.
Each year an original work, donated by a local artist or photographer, is chosen to be the Garden Show logo, which is featured on marketing and publicity materials throughout the year. The artwork is also the centerpiece of a raffle held on the last day of the show.
The selected artwork will be prominently displayed at the 2024 Gala Garden Show and at other public events earlier in the year. The artist or photographer will also be offered a free vendor booth at the show.
Proceeds from the annual Gala Garden Show empower and financially support women and girls in our local community, organizers note.
