United Way sets ‘kickoff’ event

Help United Way “kick off” its new campaign year as the nonprofit hosts a Seahawks watch party from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17, at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course, 1965 Woodcock Road.

The event includes yard games, golf games, raffle, snacks, drinks, catered lunch, and entertainment by Seahawks resident rock ‘n’ roll piano duo Zechariah Valette.

Single tickets are $80 and couples are $150 per pair. Tables are $550.

Grief share classes set in Port Angeles

GriefShare, a special help meeting and support group for people experiencing grief and loss, will be held each Thursday at 10 a.m., Aug. 31-Nov. 30, at Independent Bible Church Family Life Center, 116 East Ahlvers Road, Port Angeles.

Each weekly DVD seminar features national grief experts on grief recovery topics and real-life stories of people, followed by a small group discussion about what was viewed. A $20 workbook fee is payable at the first meeting.

“Attendees will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member or friend,” organizers say. Session titles include “Is This Normal?,” “The Challenges of Grief,” “Grief and Your Relationships,” “Why?” and “Guilt and Anger.”
