The Sequim Elks Lodge recently held its National Hoop Shoot competition at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club. Contestants included, from left, Bennett Castell, Grayson Castell, Roman Bacchus, Maks Lopez and Luca Blake. Bennett Castell won the 8-9 age bracket, Bacchus the 10-11 division and Blake the 12-13 group and all three competed at the district-level of the National Hoop Shoot competition.

Despite inclement weather causing a reschedule and a week postponement, Sequim Elks Hoop Shoot organizers finished their 2024 competition.

Winners Bennett Castell (8-9 year old division), Roman Bacchus (10-11 division) and Luca Blake (12-13 division) are the three winners and advance to the upcoming district level of the national competition,” noted hoop shoot director Charlie Johnson.

Lending a hand to the local competition were Sequim Boys and Girls Club staff and Steven Rosales, Elks members Trina Emerson, Cyndee Rayburn Smith, Stan Landess and Jim Headley, as well as Sherry Swier Johnson and friends Sandi Lockwood, Linda Christianson and Denise Menk who volunteered to ensure youths had a chance to compete this year.
