Local furniture store owner Joe Marvelle isn’t quite sure why, but this picture of himself in an Ashley Furniture oversized chaise at a trade show in Las Vegas in January went viral. Posting “To give you an idea of the scale of this thing. I’m 6 foot 3!!!!,” the post reached more than 22 million people by late January. Marvelle, who owns The Warehouse in Port Angeles, said the company gained 40,000 Facebook followers almost overnight thanks to the post.

Castell Insurance to host third Argyle Day Fundraiser

Castell Insurance (426 E. Washington St.) is donating $20 to the Shipley Center for every person that joins them in their Leap Year tradition of celebrating argyle, from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 29.

Agency founder Phil Castell made the argyle print somewhat of a uniform throughout his career.

Every four years, on Leap Day (Feb. 29), the Castell team helps celebrate this “style” by throwing a quadrennial bash with donuts, coffee and prizes.
