Learn to grow raspberries
Join Clallam County Master Gardener Jeanette Stehr-Green on Saturday, July 19 from 10:30 a.m. until noon to learn what you need to know to grow raspberries on the North Olympic Peninsula.
The presentation will focus on red raspberries, the most common type of raspberry grown in the home garden, and will cover planting, fertilizing, pruning, and trellising these varieties. The talk will also touch on yellow, black and purple raspberries and how they (and their care) differ from red raspberries.
Stehr-Green has been a Clallam County Master Gardener since 2003. She has attained the Lifetime Achievement status with Clallam County Master Gardeners and received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. Stehr-Green is a berry enthusiast and has many years of experience growing raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and blueberries.
“All About Raspberries” is free and open to the public and will take place at the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden at 2711 Woodcock Road in Sequim. The session will occur rain or shine and will include a tour of the Master Gardener raspberry patch and a pruning demonstration. Please wear comfortable footwear and dress appropriately.
