‘Music Together’ concerts set

The Sequim City Band and the Port Townsend Summer Band are joining forces for “Music Together,” a joyful collaboration featuring two free concerts.

The first concert will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 26, in Sequim, at the James Center for the Performing Arts, 506 N. Blake Ave.

The second concert will be the following day — at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, at Pope Marine Park on Water Street in downtown Port Townsend.

Both bands will showcase their own set of music before coming together for a joint finale.

Under the direction of Marge Rosen, the Port Townsend Summer Band brings a mix of movie magic, jazz classics, and Broadway flair.

They’ll take you on a nostalgic ride with “Back to the Future,” Alan Silvestri’s instantly recognizable score from the beloved 1985 film, arranged with excitement and cinematic flair.

Then it’s off to the world of intrigue and pink panthers with Henry Mancini’s “The Return of the Pink Panther” — a suave, jazzy tune filled with sly humor and smooth grooves.

Next, the band transports audiences to mystical China with “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” featuring the haunting melodies and sweeping harmonies of Tan Dun’s Academy Award-winning film score.

From Broadway, they bring a moving rendition of “For Good from Wicked” — a ballad about friendship and transformation that’s sure to resonate with all ages.

Alto saxophonist Maria Powell takes the spotlight in the smoky, bluesy “Harlem Nocturne” then with “Rhapsody for Alto Saxophone” by Fritz Neuböck.

Call for Artists

The Sequim Sunshine Festival Committee is seeking applications from artists to be considered to develop artwork for the 2026 Sequim Sunshine Festival poster and promotional materials.

The City of Sequim will commission the selected artist to develop an agreed-upon concept and final piece of art for use in promotional materials and merchandise, to market and support the festival.

The selected artist will enter into a contract with the city, receive $500 in compensation upon completion of the final artwork, and have a table or booth at the 2026 Sequim Sunshine Festival marketplace. The City of Sequim will own the final artwork.

To apply, artists will need to submit an application and three digital samples of their existing work. The deadline for submissions is Friday, Aug. 8 at 4 p.m. Only digital applications will be considered. To apply, go to: https://form.jotform.com/251944998468076.

All entries will be juried by a subcommittee of the Sequim Sunshine Festival planning committee. Artists will be notified of their status in mid-August.
