The Cedars at Dungeness Women’s Golf Association finished up its two-day Club Championship during the recent heat wave with 16 participants playing on Aug. 5 and 12.
Jane Peoples scored 166 to win the 36-hole championship. Barbara Burrow won the low gross score for the second flight with 199.
For the low net championship in the first flight, Jodi Stone won first with a net 139 over the 36 holes, followed by Marine Hirschfeld with a net 142. Kathleen McCarthy and Linda Hash tied for third place with a net 150.
Ann Rosecrants won the low net championship in the second flight with a net 144 followed by Kathy Langston with a net 149.
Weekly competitions aren’t over though, organizers said, as the group continues with its summer social, which includes a putt-putt golf course, the annual Days of Whine and Roses Golf Tournament including women from across the Puget Sound area, the end of the season luncheon, and a Christmas gathering.
At the association’s last meeting, they also voted on where to donate the year’s profits to local charities.
“Not only do they play good golf, but they also have fun and do good for the community,” said member Bonney Benson.
