The Sequim Elks Lodge hosted Elks Hoop Shoot contests on Jan. 10 and 24 in the Sequim Boys & Girls Club where children shot free throws for a chance to advance to higher rounds.

There were three age groups — 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13 — for boys and girls.

Roman Bacchus, last year’s state runner-up in the 10-11 boys competition, won the 12-13 local competition. He made 22 out of 25 free throws and competed in the district competition on Jan. 24, again held in Sequim. He sank 19 out of 25 shots but did not advance to the state competition. No other Sequim players advanced to state.
