The Michael Trebert Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recently held its Sixth Annual Veteran Wreath Retirement and U.S. Tattered Flag Retirement Ceremony at a farm in Clallam County.
The event honored the proper retirement of 1,360 veteran wreaths and 1,900 worn and tattered United States flags that had been collected throughout 2025 and turned in to the Northwest Veterans Resource Center.
The ceremonial retirement was organized and carried out by local youth organizations Trail Life USA and Heritage Girls.
Local veterans and community partners were present, including members from Carlsborg VFW Post #6787, Sequim American Legion Post 62, and the Port Angeles Elks Lodge #353 Riders.
According to a press release, more than 100 members of the public attended and participated in the ceremony, joining together for the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem, and the singing of “God Bless America” as the ceremonial burn took place.
Through its press release about the ceremony, the Michael Trebert Chapter DAR extended its thanks to those who made the ceremony “both impactful and dignified.”
