The Sequim Elks have announced six local students as winners of their Americanism Essay Contest. Students wrote on the topic “What Does Service to Your Country Mean to You?”
Winners are Lexie Lind (eighth grade), Isaac Malkasian (seventh grade), Soren Albright (sixth grade), and fifth-graders Adam Halgrimson, Gunner Giddings and Avery Resser.
A press announcement about the winners stated, “Each submitted a thoughtful and well-crafted essay for the contest and received very high scores. Their work has now been forwarded to the Elks Western District for further consideration. From there, they may even make it to the State and National committees for additional recognition.”
The Elks’ Americanism Essay Contest is open to all students in grades five through eight. Home schoolers are also eligible.
