Volunteers at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church went the huggable approach to help children in Haiti.
More than 20 men and women worked several hours on recent Fridays to finish more than 100 dolls to send to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, for young earthquake victims.
Sammi Greenwood said they worked to give children something to hold that was non-gender, age and race specific so more children could benefit.
Before sending the dolls to Haiti through a local Episcopal priest for distribution, the dolls and military quilts will be blessed at the church’s service on March 14.
The volunteers were so happy with the results, they plan to continue making the dolls for local children and agencies.
