The Olympic Peninsula Chapter of the International Footprint Association recently installed a new Memorial Plaque located in the front of Clallam County Fire District 3 Headquarters.
The memorial contains the names of four Public Safety Officers that died in the line of duty. Three law enforcement officials and one firefighter are included on the plaque: Sheriff William A Nelson (March 30, 1934); Fire District 3 firefighter Dale Kruse (Aug. 30, 1978); Clallam County Sheriff’s office deputy Wallace E. Davis (Aug. 5, 2000); and U.S. Forest Service officer Kristine Fairbanks (Sept. 20, 2008).
The Footprint Chapter donated the manpower and funding for the design and placement of the plaque. Members of the Olympic Peninsula Footprint Chapter, Sequim Police Department and Clallam County Fire District 3 were present during the instillation of the new memorial.
The Memorial Plaque is available for public viewing and is located at 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
About the Footprint group
The following is taken from the Footprint Association website (www.footprinter.org):
“Our Association is non-profit and promotes and encourages fellowship, respect, cooperation, and helpfulness between all arms of law enforcement (local, county, state, and federal) and all others (individuals, business persons, and professionals) who are sympathetic with and understanding toward law enforcement and all its agencies."
Other goals are to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of our members and communities and to champion the true spirit of Americanism.
Many of our chapters are involved in supporting civic activities. Some of the things we do are:
