Habitat marks 25th with ribbon cuttings

Join Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County as it kicks off a week-long celebration of its 25th anniversary at noon Monday, Oct. 10, with a ribbon cutting at the Sequim office, 350 W. Washington St., Suite B. The nonprofit housing organization was founded in 1991 by a group of Sequim citizens who recognized the need for affordable housing.

Celebratory activities will continue through the week at the Habitat Store. 725 E. Front St. in Port Angeles, beginning with another ribbon cutting at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11. Light refreshments, discounts and giveaways will be offered from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Oct. 11-15 at the store and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.

Habitat has served over 50 families in its 25 years of service in Clallam County through partnering in building new homes, repairing existing homes and community clean-up projects. In the fall of 2015, Habitat became an “NR” (Neighborhood Revitalization) Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. NR is a holistic approach to revitalizing neighborhoods into vibrant, safe and inviting places to live for current and future residents. The affiliate has launched its NR work in Sequim and Port Angeles, and is now able to serve senior citizens, disabled homeowners and low-income households who may need a “hand-up” with repairs.
