Sequim School District prepares for strategic planning

Sequim schools superintendent Gary Neal is seeking help from the community to help develop a six-year Strategic Plan for the Sequim School District.

A group made up of district staff, community members and local organization and business leaders, will be asked to define a vision, a mission and a belief statement that will provide a road map for accomplishing measurable goals.

Dr. Dave Engle, retired superintendent from the Port Townsend School District, will serve as facilitator.

A series of meetings for this purpose have been set. All meetings take place from 8:15-11:45 a.m. at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St.

Dates are March 30, April 13, April 24, May 11, May 25, June 8 and June 22.

“We realize that the more sets of eyes we have on a problem the better the result, thus a better learning experience for our students,” said Neal.

“I am extremely proud of how our business and community leaders are stepping up to join us in developing a 6-year Strategic Plan. The partnerships developed between the community and district over the past several years is proving to be authentic and genuine.

“I am truly humbled by the number of folks willing to take time out of their schedules to engage in this important undertaking.”
