Series explains how to prepare for Cascadia earthquakes, events

Clallam Fire District 3 and former State Representative Jim Buck will be presenting “Cascadia Subduction Zone Earthquake series, set for 6:30-8:30 p.m. on three upcoming weekdays at the Sunland Golf Course clubhouse, 109 Hilltop Dr., Sequim.

The series includes: “Cascadia Subduction Zone Earthquake: The Threat to Clallam County, Washington” on Thursday, March 29;

“Ends of the Earth: Comparison of Cascadia Quake in Clallam County and Hurricane Marla – Puerto Rico” on Thursday, April 5, and “30 Days on Your Own — Camping in Your house” on Wednesday, April 11.

The series was previously shown at Port Angeles Library to standing room only crowds, so attendees are urged to arrive early for good seats. The series will cover:

• Threats to Clallam County and the Sequim area,

• Comparison of Puerto Rico’s Hurricane Marla disaster Impact and a Cascadia event, and,

• How to be prepared to stay in your own home after a Cascadia earthquake.

Speakers include Buck, Dan Orr, Asst. Chief with Clallam County Fire District 3, and Blaine Zechenelly, Clallam County Fire District 3 Disaster Planner.
