SkyRidge celebrates 15th with tourney

Celebrating its 15th year, SkyRidge Golf Course hosts the “SkyRidge Anniversary” Golf Tournament set for a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday, June 16, at 7015 Old Olympic Highway.

Play format is a two-person modified Chapman. Cost is $80 per team and includes 18 holes of golf, range balls, tee prize, lunch after play, KPs and long putt contest; optional honey pots are $30 per team. There may be a Horse Race contest later in the day after lunch, organizers say.

River fishing classes slated in Sequim

Brian’s Sporting Goods in Sequim will be holding two river fishing classes in the next two weeks for people looking to learn more about freshwater fishing on the Olympic Peninsula.

The classes will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, and on Tuesday, June 19, at Brian’s Sporting Goods, 609 Washington St. #21. Cost is $40 for both classes.

“We take in rod, reels, lines, everything,” said Brian Menkal of Brian’s Sporting Goods.

Soccer registration under way

Registration is underway for Sequim Junior Soccer’s fall soccer season at www.sequimjuniorsoccer.com.

Ages range from Little Kickers (birth years Sept. 2014-2015); U5-U6 through U13-U15.

Little Kickers’ registration fee through July 27 is $35, U5-U6 is $45 and U7 and older is $55.

After the July 27 deadline, a $10 late registration fee will be charged.

Coaches also are needed.

Fly fishers to meet

The next meeting of the Sequim Greywolf Fly Fishers is 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, ​June 19, at the Masonic Lodge, 700 S. Fifth Ave., Sequim.

There will be a brief business meeting followed by fishing reports on local lakes and favorite flies that successfully catch fish. The remainder of meeting is reserved for individual fly tying. Participants may tie a fly of one’s choice (bring fly-tying equipment and materials) or observe this month’s tying event. There will also be a fly raffle and discussion about recent adventures. Volleyball camp set in PA

Port Angeles High School, 304 E. Park Ave., hosts a volleyball camp for girls going into grades kindergarten-ninth grade June 25-28.

Youths in grades 6-9 go from 9 a.m.-noon while younger campers go from 1-4 p.m.; boys in the (K-5 afternoon session (K-5) are welcome.

The camp focuses on the fundamentals of the game as well as teaching the movements through games and activities. Different levels of competition is introduced through the week based on levels of experience and growth.

Cost is $50 and includes a T-shirt. Registration needs to be in by June 15 in order to insure a camp shirt; however, attendees can register at the door.
