Winners named in Blue Whole Gallery’s first juried show

With a crowd packed into Blue Whole Gallery during the Jan. 4 First Friday Art Walk, organizers of Blue Whole Gallery’s first juried show selected winners from among the 48 contributing artists.

Beverly Beighie won the Jurors’ Choice by her painting “Birds of a Feather.”

Tina Weitz won first place with her photo “Cora,” while Susan Noyes Mangold took second place with her painting, “Windy Day,”and Gail Larson won third place by her collage, “Concentric 2.”

David Chastain won the People’s Choice honor with his painting, “Little Creek.”

Honorable mention awards went to: Debbie Harding, for “Cardoon”; David Chastain, for “Little Creek”; Susan Gansert Shaw, for “The Loren Pond”; Marti Mathis, for “Grey Malkin,” and Ross Brown, for “Past Present # 1.”

The exhibit will be on until the end of January.

Joyce Volmut, gallery president and show coordinator, called the gallery’s first juried show in its 21 years a “great success.”

The show sponsor was Estes Builders Inc., a longtime gallery supporter.
